Mornings begin with meditation and practice. The days are full of an exhaustive study of yoga postures, philosophy, methodology. Afternoons conclude with practice and self-reflection. La Casa Shambala offers you an immersion in the yogi lifestyle and the path of teaching from the heart. Throughout this course, you will have the experience of living in community while you surround yourself with healing power of nature. This is the best way to connect the mind, body and soul. Students get a mix of the art of teaching yoga asana, along with the well-rounded exposition in philosophy, lifestyle and yoga techniques. Emphasis is placed on the practice and development of teaching skills, including how to organize a class, create trust, pranayamas, philosophy and how to make corrections to postures. You will learn how to teach yoga with precision, emphasizing the presence of the heart. The fundamentals of this program are based on Vinyasa Flow and Hatha sequences and will allow you to develop and nurture your own teaching style. The course emphasizes teaching from beginners to intermediate levels. Therefore we focus on safety, the use of props, correct breathing and alignment as well as restorative asana, relaxation and meditation. We also go into more dynamic and strong asanas to improve strength, resistance and willpower. Students must respect their own limitations and are not expected to exercise beyond their own physical abilities.

Course Instructor

Sara Ramalho

Sara was introduced to the Reiki path in 2008 with a session given to her by a friend. She was so excited about the experience and knew that Reiki had to be part of her life. That same year, Sara completed her Reiki I in Lisbon, Portugal. The more she learned and experienced through this amazing healing technique, the more she became interested in the philosophy of yoga. She started practicing Yoga in 2009 and almost immediately, it became a way of life!

After some years of practice, in 2013 Sara decided to go to Dharamsala, India, and trained in the wisdom of the Himalayas, starting with a 200-hour teaching course and obtaining a certification with Yoga Alliance. Her focus was on Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Shivananda Yoga. There, she also studied asanas, pranayamas, anatomy, meditation and philosophy of yoga in depth. During this trip, Sara also completed Reiki I.

Since then, Sara has been doing many courses and workshops, including Thai massage, hot stone massage, balance of chakras with crystals and also completed her course as Reiki Master.

In addition to teaching yoga, Sara gives Reiki sessions, Reiki massage and alignment of the chakras with crystals. She has over 8 years of practice and has been teaching full time for more than 4 years. Sara conducts classes from Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, Vinyasa flow to Nidra yoga, Yin yoga, pranayama and meditation, focusing on energy, strength, relaxation, body awareness, foundation and rooting. Sara is always focused on the heart and teaches in a playful way, with devotion and love.

Food

All meals are made with healthy organic vegan foods. La Casa Shambala may be able to meet any specific dietary requirements (including vegetarian meals) but please send them an inquiry first to be sure.

For this retreat we require a 30% deposit to secure the booking. Payments can be made by PayPal or bank transfer.
