La Casa Shambala Yoga

At La Casa Shambala we incorporate yoga into the fabric of our community as it is truly something everyone can benefit from. We offer classes on various styles, for beginners to advanced practitioners.

By offering several Teacher Training Courses throughout the year, we strive to create more skilled practitioners that will spread the benefits of yoga around the world.

We keep all of our classes small with a ten person maximum. This ensures students get the most as teachers can assist with correcting positions and making sure breathing techniques are done correctly for everyone.

What Is Yoga?

The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as “union,” specifically of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit.

It is used as a physical exercise to help strengthen the body and increase flexibility but really, it is so much more than this. Yoga postures, or asanas, are great for cardio and circulatory health, increasing muscle strength and tone, flexibility, maintaining a balanced metabolism and even protect the body from injury.

But yoga also helps improves your psychological/mental well- being, assists in dealing with anxiety and depression, boosts memory and improves concentration, prevents the onset of mental health conditions, and even reduces the effects of traumatic experiences

Hatha

In Sanskrit, Hatha means forceful. Hatha style is a gentle, basic yoga with no flow between poses. Each pose is held as long as it takes to perfect position and breathing. It is great to work on alignments, learn relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with doing yoga while building flexibility and strength.

Vinyasa

This word means “to place in a special way” in Sanskrit. Students move through asanas with a focuses on the flow between movements, rather than individual poses themselves. This is fast-paced yoga style with postures being changed as one breathes in and out so everything flows.

AcroYoga

This style is always done with a partner. In additional to all the benefits of yoga, AcroYoga also helps build trust, both with individuals and the community. When you do yoga with a partner, positions become endless. Push yourself to the limits and see what you are capable of!

Aerial Yoga

What happens when you combine the traditional yoga poses, pilates and dance with the use of a hammock? You get a whole lot of fun. Aerial yoga was started in New York quite recently but has already spread all over the world. What could be better then anti-gravity asanas?
